ICC-ES SAVE

Environmental Criteria

With the adoption of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) and the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), independent building product assessments in accordance with green requirements are becoming increasingly important. A unique component of the SAVE Program is that it provides the option to have products evaluated to codes and standards such as IGCC or CALGreen, and to major green rating systems, such as LEED, Green Globes, and NAHB & ICC's National Green Building Standard (ICC 700-2008).

ICC-ES also has developed Environmental Criteria, formerly known as Evaluation Guidelines, for use in verifying manufacturers' claims about specific sustainable attributes of their products. These criteria, listed below, address the entire production stage of the report subject beginning with raw material acquisition and progressing through final manufacturing and packaging ("cradle-to-gate").
